Infernal Affairs II

Infernal Affairs II (無間道II, 2003) is the Hong Kong crime saga's prequel, and you can watch it online on iFILM. It rewinds the clock to show how two moles, one inside the police and one inside the Triad, were planted in the first place.

The story unfolds across the years leading up to the 1997 handover. After the Triad's boss is assassinated, his son Hau claims the throne nobody expected him to want, and the police have no answer for him. Young cadet Chan Wing Yan goes deep undercover into the gang, while a Triad recruit named Lau quietly climbs the police ladder. Anthony Wong and Eric Tsang anchor it as the elders who set every piece on the board.

Directed by Andrew Lau and Alan Mak, this entry trades the original's two-man duel for a sprawling chronicle of clan warfare against a city changing hands. Slower, sadder and heavier in its ending, it deepens the tragedy of the whole trilogy. Stream Infernal Affairs II (2003) online on iFILM.
