Reindeer Games

Reindeer Games (2000) is John Frankenheimer's crime thriller, available to watch online on iFILM. Fresh out of prison, Rudy takes his dead cellmate's name just to meet the man's pen-pal girlfriend, Ashley. It's a reckless move. It nearly gets him killed.

Instead of an easy romance, Rudy (Ben Affleck) gets grabbed by a crew that wants the late Nick, not him — Nick knew the security setup of a reservation casino inside out. The gang is run by Ashley's brother Gabriel (Gary Sinise), and walking away from the heist is no longer an option. Rudy has to fake being a man he never met while the stakes climb and every promise turns out to hide a trap. Nobody's loyalties hold up until the final stretch.

This was Frankenheimer's last feature, and the veteran of tense, twisty thrillers shoots it with his usual grip. Around Affleck and Sinise you get Charlize Theron, Dennis Farina and Danny Trejo.
