Synopsis
Battle Royale II: Requiem (2003) is a Japanese action thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Three years on from the original slaughter, survivor Shuya Nanahara has become an international terrorist, leading a cell called Wild Seven against the adult world that forced kids to kill each other.
His group levels several Tokyo towers in a Christmas Day attack that kills thousands. The government's answer is brutal arithmetic: a fresh class of students gets fitted with explosive collars, this time chained in pairs, so when one dies the partner dies too. They're dropped on Shuya's island and given three days to reach him and put him down. Kinji Fukasaku, who directed the first film, died just as shooting began, and his son Kenta finished the picture. The sense of a furious final statement runs all through it.
The sequel is angrier and blunter than its predecessor, trading the schoolyard parable for open anti-war rage and battlefield chaos.
