Synopsis
The Yellow Sea (황해, 2010) is a Korean crime thriller from Na Hong-jin that you can watch online on iFILM. A broke cab driver agrees to cross the sea and kill a stranger, and everything falls apart from there.
Gu-nam (Ha Jung-woo) is an ethnic Korean scraping by in China, buried under debt he took on to send his wife to Seoul. She stopped answering. When gang boss Myun (Kim Yun-seok) offers to wipe the debt in exchange for one murder in the South, Gu-nam smuggles himself across the Yellow Sea. The hit goes wrong, and suddenly he's hunted by the police and the very gangsters who hired him.
This is the director's follow-up to The Chaser, and the 156-minute runtime barely lets you breathe: hatchet fights, rain-soaked Seoul backstreets, and not a single clean conscience in sight. Kim Yun-seok plays Myun with a feral menace that lingers long after the credits. Brutal viewing for anyone who finds standard action films too polite. Stream The Yellow Sea (2010) online on iFILM.
