Параллельно Тогуса осознаёт, что застрял в собственных воспоминаниях, а Бато и остальные стягиваются в столицу, где подросток-постчеловек Такаси Симамура уже ведёт свою игру. На кону — захваченная атомная субмарина и ставка, которую США готовы оплатить чужими жизнями.
По сравнению с первым сезоном фокус смещается с наёмничьей беготни на чистую идеологию: что такое сознание, нация и свобода, когда мыслить начинает сама сеть.
