The Powerpuff Girls (1998) is the Cartoon Network animated series you can watch online on iFILM. Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup are three kindergarten-aged sisters whom Professor Utonium cooked up from sugar, spice and one accidental splash of Chemical X.

By day they practice their letters. After nap time they protect the city of Townsville from whatever crawls out of its sewers and labs. The clueless mayor rings them on a red hotline, the simian supervillain Mojo Jojo plots their downfall, and it all has to wrap up before bedtime. Blossom leads and overthinks the plan, hot-tempered Buttercup swings first, and sweet-natured Bubbles is the one nobody should underestimate. Craig McCracken created the show, with Genndy Tartakovsky and Lauren Faust among the directors.

Cathy Cavadini, Tara Strong and Elizabeth Daily voice the trio. Bite-sized episodes, candy-colored art and jokes pitched over kids' heads for the grown-ups watching along are why it still holds up.
