The Vault

The Vault (Way Down, 2021) is a Spanish heist thriller from director Jaume Balagueró that you can watch online on iFILM. Madrid, summer 2010. As the entire country glues itself to the national team's World Cup run, a crew underground is plotting its way into the most impenetrable strongroom in Spain — the vault of the Bank of Spain, whose defenses no one fully understands.

Thomas (Freddie Highmore), a brilliant young engineering graduate, gets recruited by chancer Walter (Liam Cunningham) for one reason: he might crack a mechanism the original designer took to his grave. They have only the ninety minutes of the final match to slip inside, beat a vault rigged to flood, and walk out while a roaring crowd in the plaza gives them perfect cover.

Balagueró, best known for the found-footage horror REC, plays this one as pure genre — a countdown, engineering puzzles and the roar of Madrid's streets in place of shootouts.
