Panic Attacks

Panic Attacks (2024) is a Russian drama from director Ivan I. Tverdovsky that you can watch online on iFILM. Eighteen-year-old Vika lives in a bleak northern company town and is gripped by attacks that strike without warning. Her neighbors explain them in their own ways — some blame the ruined local ecology, others an old curse hanging over the place.

What Vika wants is simple: out. Her goal isn't a local husband or a job down the street but neighboring Norway, where she means to flee. The road there turns out far more frightening than it sounds. To get away she commits a crime, and untangling why she did it proves anything but straightforward. Tverdovsky shoots this less as an escape thriller than as an uneasy portrait of the provinces, where a person's body and mind break down along with the environment around them.
