Synopsis

November 1957, upstate New York. Sergeant Ed Croswell notices something strange about the strangers arriving in his quiet town of Apalachin: expensive cars, out-of-state plates, and a local low-level crook suddenly buying meat by the truckload. Nobody at the station takes him seriously. He keeps watching.
What he stumbled onto turned out to be a national summit of organized crime — more than fifty mob bosses from across the country gathering under the cover of a rural retreat. Croswell's intervention blew it wide open and forced the FBI to acknowledge, for the first time publicly, that a coordinated criminal network existed in America.
