Synopsis
The Pigs (Psy, 1992) is Władysław Pasikowski's Polish crime thriller, available to watch online on iFILM. Communism has just collapsed, and the men who once ran the secret police suddenly belong nowhere — vetted, fired, spat at in the street.
Lieutenant Franz Maurer (Bogusław Linda) signs on as an ordinary cop and goes after a drug ring. The very first night raid leaves officers dead while the dealers vanish, and Maurer starts to suspect that some of his old comrades are now running the other side. Linda's burnt-out, chain-smoking antihero turned him into a national star, and his lines and the score were quoted across Poland for years.
Pasikowski made an angry, uncomfortable film about men the system trained and then discarded, and it caught the mood of the moment exactly. It became a cult hit, spawned two sequels, and still ranks among the defining Polish films of the nineties. Stream The Pigs (1992) online on iFILM.
