Synopsis
Lanky Girls (2019) is a Russian comedy series you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Fyodor Stukov and Sergei Sentsov, the show follows volleyball coach Mikhail Kovalev — a man who has spent his career dismissing women — who loses his Super League position after one scandal too many.
His path back requires coaching a provincial student women's volleyball team and actually winning. Pavel Derevyanko plays Kovalev with the kind of misplaced self-confidence that makes the character both funny and irritating in the right proportions. Blocking his way: vice-rector Irina (Anna Nevskaya), a perfectionist with no patience for his attitude, and his ex-girlfriend Natalia (Daria Ursulyak), who has been waiting for exactly this moment.
