Synopsis
The Rookies (素人特工, 2019) is a Chinese action comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Zhou Feng (Wang Darren) is an extreme sports enthusiast — resourceful, fearless, and completely unqualified for covert operations. Interpol agent Bruce (Milla Jovovich) recruits him regardless and flies him to Budapest.
She assembles the rest of the team there: an inept cop, an amateur scientist, and a doctor between jobs. The four of them are matched against an international terrorist organisation. Director Alan Yuen uses that mismatch as the engine — the action setpieces are competent, the comedy comes from watching people who have no business being there try to hold it together.
