Syndrome

Syndrome (Sindrom, 2023) is a Russian psychological thriller you can watch online on iFILM. A brutal car crash upends the lives of married couple Maria and Kirill, and when the artist comes to, she barely recognizes her husband: he has turned frighteningly, impossibly perfect.

Kirill used to have his flaws; now he's attentive, tender and considerate to the point of dread. Maria keeps swinging between two readings — either the man genuinely panicked at almost losing her and changed, or her own injured mind is painting something that isn't there. The longer she hunts for an explanation, the shakier the ground gets; strange coincidences pile up, and she can't trust her own memory. Oksana Akinshina and Kirill Käro carry the duel between them for most of the runtime.

Director Anton Bormatov keeps it tight at 84 minutes, where the real question isn't "what happened" but "can you trust the person telling you." It's for fans of anxious, low-gore psychological thrillers with a twist held back until the end. Stream Syndrome online on iFILM.
