TV-14Season 1
Bring truth to the surface.
Synopsis
The Investigation (Efterforskningen), Season 1 — watch online on iFILM. Six episodes of Scandinavian crime drama built on the real 2017 disappearance of Swedish journalist Kim Wall in Copenhagen.
Jens Møller, head of Copenhagen's homicide unit, runs an investigation with almost nothing solid to work from. The homemade submarine is at the bottom of the sea. No body, no witnesses. The inventor who built the sub — the only suspect — keeps revising his account of events. Over six episodes the series tracks the slow accumulation of evidence: cadaver dogs working twenty metres below sea level, forensic teams waiting on lab results, diver searches that come back empty. Chief Prosecutor Jakob Buch-Jepsen makes the stakes clear — without establishing motive and cause of death, the suspect walks.
The show never dramatises the perpetrator onscreen, and there are no reconstructions of the crime. What it does is show real police work at its most painstaking, and that turns out to be more gripping than most fictional thrillers manage. Stream Season 1 of The Investigation online on iFILM.
