Synopsis
Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy (2011) is a Lifetime crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. It reconstructs a case that owned the front pages: a British student found dead in a small Italian town, and the American housemate accused of killing her.
Hayden Panettiere plays Knox, a Seattle exchange student whose roommate turns up murdered one autumn night in 2007. Investigators close in on her and her boyfriend Raffaele almost at once, while the tabloids flip her between cold-blooded killer and railroaded innocent. Marcia Gay Harden, an Oscar winner for Pollock, plays the mother who flies into a foreign country and runs straight into a wall of unfamiliar law and a press that has already made up its mind.
Director Robert Dornhelm shot the film while the real trials were still being argued and overturned. It refuses to hand down a verdict of its own; instead it watches a media machine convict someone long before the jury can.
