Synopsis
Flo (2023) is a French biographical drama you can watch online on iFILM. It follows sailor Florence Arthaud, who in 1990 beat a field of men to win the solo transatlantic race Route du Rhum — the first woman ever to do it.
Stéphane Caillard plays Flo as someone whose victories always came at a cost: a will that pushed back against everyone who assumed an ocean racing yacht was no place for a woman. The nickname "the little fiancée of the Atlantic" stuck not out of sweetness but out of the stubbornness with which she kept heading alone into open water. The film lives in the rhythm of the sea and solitude — wind, hull, and a voice giving itself orders in the dark. The screenplay draws on Yann Queffélec's book about her life.
Director Géraldine Danon skips the polished tribute for a story about defiance and freedom; some may find it a touch literal, but the racing sequences genuinely breathe. It's for viewers who like biopics built on strong characters and stories tied to the sea. Stream Flo (2023) online on iFILM.
