Synopsis
Quasi (2023) is a medieval comedy from director Kevin Heffernan, ready to watch online on iFILM. It's the latest romp from the Broken Lizard crew behind Super Troopers, this time built around a lovelorn hunchback named Quasi whose one real wish is to be wanted by somebody.
That wish goes on hold fast. The Pope and the King of France despise each other, and each one privately orders poor Quasi to kill his rival. Saying no isn't an option with either. So the hunchback gets squeezed between two assassination contracts while still chasing a shot at romance. Steve Lemme, Jay Chandrasekhar, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske fill out the cast, with Brian Cox and Adrianne Palicki lending some grown-up weight to the silliness.
The humor here is broad, costumed and proudly dumb — exactly the Broken Lizard register. No interest in historical accuracy, plenty of farce, fake gore and below-the-belt gags. If a goofy, good-natured spoof is your thing, this delivers. Stream Quasi (2023) online on iFILM.
