Deep In The Wood

Deep in the Wood (In Fondo Al Bosco, 2015) is an Italian mystery thriller you can watch online on iFILM. During a winter festival in the Dolomites, where villagers dress as devils, four-year-old Tommi Conci vanishes without a trace.

Five years pass. Police take in a nameless boy with no records, and a DNA test returns the impossible: it's Tommi. His father Manuel, blamed for the boy's disappearance all this time, finally gets to hold his son again. But his mother Linda looks at the child and doesn't recognize him — too many small things refuse to add up. Camilla Filippi and Filippo Nigro play parents more frightened by the truth than by the riddle.

Director Stefano Lodovichi builds the dread out of doubt rather than jump scares: did the same child come back, or did something else walk through the door?
