Synopsis
Double Team (1997) is a Jean-Claude Van Damme action movie you can watch online on iFILM. Hong Kong director Tsui Hark calls the shots, and NBA star Dennis Rodman shows up as the hero's sidekick.
Counter-terrorism agent Jack Quinn finally has his old enemy Stavros, played by Mickey Rourke, in his sights. Then the target's wife and child step into frame, Quinn hesitates, and the mission falls apart. Instead of retirement he's shipped off to the Colony, a secret island prison where elite operatives are declared dead and run from a distance. Jack breaks out to save his family, recruiting flamboyant arms dealer Yaz, played by Rodman, along the way. It builds to a fight in a Roman arena involving a tiger, a landmine and a can of soda.
This is from the era when action films embraced the ridiculous. Tsui Hark drops his Hong Kong kinetics onto a Western set, and the Van Damme–Rodman pairing is genuinely odd. Watch it for pure, unpretentious nineties mayhem. Stream Double Team (1997) online on iFILM.
