Synopsis
Rogue City (original title Bronx, 2020) is Olivier Marchal's French crime actioner, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Set in Marseille, it drops you into a city where rival gangs carve up the streets and the police force is rotten from the inside.
An honest cop wants to keep his own squad alive, and doing so means fighting on two fronts at once: against the warring clans and against the crooked officers wearing the same badge. Marchal, a former policeman himself, films the underside of the job without gloss, stacking ambushes, backroom deals, betrayals and shootouts one after another. The cast brings together Jean Reno, parkour pioneer David Belle, rapper Kaaris and screen legend Claudia Cardinale.
This is a dense, hard-edged polar in the vein of Marchal's earlier 36th Precinct. It premiered straight to Netflix and lands best with viewers who like their European crime drama bleak and short on happy endings. Stream Rogue City (2020) online on iFILM.
