Synopsis
Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might (1990) is a feature-length anime you can watch online on iFILM. The third DBZ movie, directed by Daisuke Nishio, runs about an hour and is built around one thing: a huge fight for the fate of the planet.
Space pirate Turles lands on Earth and plants the Tree of Might. Its roots drink the energy out of every living thing, and its fruit hands monstrous power to whoever eats it. Turles happens to look almost exactly like Goku, which is no accident. Goku, Piccolo, young Gohan and his pet dragon, and the rest of the Z Fighters scramble to bring the tree down before the world withers. Masako Nozawa voices Goku in the original Japanese, as always.
This is late-'80s, early-'90s DBZ at its most compact: fast, loud, full of glowing energy blasts and capped by a last-ditch Spirit Bomb. It's an easy entry point to the movie spin-offs — you don't need the whole series to enjoy the ride. Great for shonen action fans and anyone who grew up on the Cartoon Network run. Stream Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might (1990) online on iFILM.
