Synopsis
Breathe (Respire, 2014) is a French drama directed by Mélanie Laurent that you can watch online on iFILM. Seventeen-year-old Charlie lives in a fog of anxiety and self-doubt — until Sarah, a confident, magnetic new girl, arrives at her school.
The two bond fast, and for Charlie the friendship becomes the center of her world. Sarah, though, runs hot and cold: warm and intimate one day, cutting the next. The more Charlie leans in, the sharper the rejection, and what began as closeness curdles into something suffocating she can't pull away from. Joséphine Japy and Lou de Laâge carry the whole thing on glances and things left unsaid.
Laurent, best known as an actress from Inglourious Basterds, steps behind the camera to adapt Anne-Sophie Brasme's novel. It's a hushed, nerve-wracking study of teenage obsession and toxic friendship that hits harder the quieter it stays. A good pick for anyone who values small-scale psychological drama over loud plot twists. Stream Breathe (2014) online on iFILM.
