Todd has no clue about sales and even less about British life, so he lies — constantly — and every fresh lie digs the hole deeper. His entire staff consists of one slacker, Dave, whose advice points him in precisely the wrong direction every time. The show's trick is its shape: each episode opens with Todd already buried in some disaster, then winds back to reveal exactly which terrible choices got him there.

David Cross plays the lead screw-up at full throttle, with Will Arnett, Sharon Horgan and Blake Harrison alongside, plus cameos from Spike Jonze and Jon Hamm. It's cringe comedy in the vein of The Office, only meaner and more absurd, steeped in proper British self-loathing.
