Four Lions

Four Lions (2010), Chris Morris' pitch-black comedy, is yours to watch online on iFILM. Four British wannabe jihadists set out to make history, except planning an attack turns out to be well beyond their pay grade.

Omar (Riz Ahmed) is the only one with anything resembling a working brain, which more or less makes him the ringleader. Around him orbit Barry, a hot-headed white convert (Nigel Lindsay), the sweet and clueless Waj, and Faisal, who is busy trying to train crows to bomb buildings. Every scheme collapses, their martyrdom videos come out ridiculous, and the crew can't even agree on who the enemy is supposed to be. Benedict Cumberbatch turns up briefly as a police negotiator.

Morris, a titan of British satire, pulls off the near-impossible: he mocks terrorism without ever losing sympathy for the fools it chews up. You laugh until it hurts, then it stops being funny in exactly the right places. Skip it if you only want safe jokes. Stream Four Lions (2010) online on iFILM.
