Channing Tatum plays Shawn MacArthur; Terrence Howard is Harvey Boarden, the smooth-talking hustler who spots raw talent and pulls him into the street-fight world. One night can lift you up or leave you flat on the pavement. The cash comes fast, the trust between them comes slow, and Shawn's hardest bout is still ahead.

Montiel had already directed Tatum in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, and his New York here is just as scuffed and unpolished.
