Waitress

Waitress (2007) is a tender comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM, built around a small-town diner and the pies that get made there. Keri Russell plays Jenna, who bakes her feelings into recipes she names after her mood.

Jenna is trapped. Her husband Earl is controlling and cheap, she has no money to leave, and then a pregnancy she never wanted lands on top of it all. So she pours everything into her baking and into a reckless attraction to Dr. Pomatter (Nathan Fillion), the married new doctor in town. Her one plan: win a regional pie contest, take the prize money, and finally walk out the door. Whether she finds the nerve is the whole movie.

This was Adrienne Shelly's only feature as a director; she also plays Jenna's coworker and was killed before the film premiered at Sundance.
