Synopsis

Visitor Q (2001) is Takashi Miike's notorious shock comedy, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Shot fast on cheap video, it stands among the most extreme things the director ever put to tape.

The household at its center is rotten to the core. The father, a disgraced TV reporter, is filming a documentary about his own kids and crosses every line doing it. The mother shoots heroin and sells herself; the teenage son beats her at home; the daughter has run off. Then a silent stranger — the mysterious "Q" of the title — turns up on the doorstep and, in his own warped way, starts setting the family straight.

Miike made the film for a direct-to-video series with almost no money and total freedom, and he used that freedom to detonate every taboo he could find. It's pitch-black satire about a family in collapse and a culture hooked on its own image, pushing disgust and absurdity well past the breaking point. This one is strictly for hardened fans of transgressive cinema. Stream Visitor Q (2001) online on iFILM.
