Synopsis
Catherine the Great (2019), Season 1 — watch online on iFILM: four episodes, Helen Mirren, HBO/Sky Atlantic, and one of the more unsentimental political love stories in British historical drama.
The season isn't a biography. It's a portrait of one alliance under pressure. Potemkin enters as an opinionated lieutenant, returns from war as a victor, and becomes the one person Catherine actually talks to — candidly, about power, the future, what they owe each other. His push for expansion puts him against Minister Panin; foreign courts push back from outside. The final episode narrows to a bitter argument at a sick man's bedside while Catherine quietly reshapes the line of succession.
Four episodes at this length force precision. No padding — just two actors and the weight of an empire. Stream Catherine the Great Season 1 online on iFILM.
