BOCCHI THE ROCK! (ぼっち・ざ・ろっく！, 2022) is a Japanese anime series from CloverWorks you can watch online on iFILM. Hitori Gotoh has been teaching herself electric guitar for years — alone in her room, posting covers under the alias "Guitar Hero," quietly racking up millions of views while having exactly zero friends at school.

Then drummer Nijika Ijichi spots her and pulls her into Kessoku Band. Suddenly the girl who used to hide inside a cardboard box to calm down has to perform live in front of actual people. The show plays Hitori's social anxiety for laughs — and then, in the same breath, treats it with real tenderness. Directed by Yoshiyuki Fujiwara across 12 episodes, the series pairs its character comedy with genuinely inventive animation that breaks its own visual rules whenever Hitori gets lost in music. That combination is what made it one of the most talked-about anime of autumn 2022.
