Earnest young feminist Joyce Prigger wants to launch a serious women's title; the only publisher who'll bankroll her is Doug Renetti, who runs a stable of smut. Their compromise becomes Minx, the first erotic magazine aimed at women. The season tracks how a glossy full of nude male centerfolds turns into a hit and drags trouble along — skittish advertisers, the Mob, and a conservative councilwoman set on shutting the operation down. The bigger Joyce's fame grows, the further her ideals drift from Doug's commercial instincts.
The whole thing runs on one contrast: lofty seventies feminism beside a naked man on a centerfold, and the comedy lives in that gap. Ophelia Lovibond and Jake Johnson sell the odd-couple chemistry.
