Synopsis
Jeff Dunham: Beside Himself (2019) is a stand-up special from ventriloquist Jeff Dunham, and you can watch it online on iFILM. For his second Netflix hour the comedian came home to Dallas and packed out the American Airlines Center. One guy, a suitcase of puppets, and a crowd laughing for the better part of an hour.
The whole roster takes a turn at the mic: grumpy old Walter, beer-soaked redneck Bubba J, the cocky purple Peanut, José Jalapeño on a Stick, and skeletal Achmed the Dead Terrorist with his trademark "Silence! I kill you!" The new face is Larry, a chain-smoking, jittery presidential adviser Dunham uses to needle current politics. The jokes run sharp and unfiltered, with no apology for crossing a line or two.
Directed by Troy Miller, a veteran of TV comedy specials, the brisk 58-minute set is built for laughs with no plot to follow. It suits anyone who loves old-school ventriloquism and doesn't flinch at edgy material. Stream Jeff Dunham: Beside Himself (2019) online on iFILM.
