Synopsis
Between Two Ferns: The Movie (2019) is a Netflix comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Zach Galifianakis plays a version of himself, the host of a deadpan public-access talk show where he insults A-listers from a chair wedged between two potted ferns.
After Will Ferrell leaks a disastrous interview online, Zach becomes a viral punchline. To win his name back, he cuts a deal: shoot ten celebrity interviews in two weeks and hand them over to Ferrell. So Zach and his hapless crew pile into a van and crisscross the country, mining awkward silences and dead-end questions out of every guest.
The feature grew out of the Funny or Die web series, and the cameos are the whole joke. Matthew McConaughey, Keanu Reeves, Brie Larson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Peter Dinklage and Jon Hamm all show up as irritated versions of themselves. Director Scott Aukerman keeps the rhythm intact: the longer the pause, the bigger the laugh. Pure cringe comedy for people who love it that way.
