Synopsis
Take Me Home Tonight (2011) is Michael Dowse's comedy, and you can watch it online on iFILM. It's the late 1980s, summer in Los Angeles, and recent MIT grad Matt Franklin is hiding from his own future behind the counter of a video store with no clue what he actually wants.
Everything tips over when Tori — the high-school crush he never got over — wanders into the shop. Trying to impress her, Matt blurts out that he works at Goldman Sachs, and the lie drags him straight into a wild end-of-summer party where he has to keep the act going all night. Topher Grace plays Matt, with Anna Faris as his sharp-tongued twin sister and Dan Fogler as his disaster of a best friend; Teresa Palmer is Tori. Keep an eye out for early turns from Chris Pratt and Bob Odenkirk.
The movie is a love letter to its decade — neon, cassette tapes, a little cocaine, and a soundtrack so central the film borrows its title from the Eddie Money song. Grace co-wrote it, partly about a generation that grew up but won't grow up. Easy retro fun for anyone who likes Grease or the John Hughes teen comedies.
