Synopsis
Reboot (2022), Season 1 is an eight-episode Hulu comedy you can watch online on iFILM — a show about a show, in which a young writer named Hannah sells a reboot of a forgotten early-2000s sitcom and discovers that getting the original cast back is the easy part.
Reed and Bree haven't spoken in years; now they have to shoot an intimate scene together without it turning into a disaster. Hannah and Gordon — the star who considers himself a co-writer — hire rival writers, which bogs down the room by episode three. Clay keeps stumbling from one workplace entanglement straight into the next. Zack fights an ex-girlfriend for custody of a dog, which is funnier and sadder than it sounds. By the finale, a regime change at Hulu threatens to cancel the whole project before it airs — which raises the actual dramatic stakes the show earns rather than manufactures.
Steven Levitan, co-creator of Modern Family, knows how the Hollywood machine works on both sides of the pitch meeting. The satire here is specific enough to be sharp. All episodes of Reboot Season 1 are streaming on iFILM.
