Small-time hustler Johnny Hooker (Robert Redford) seeks out aging master con man Henry Gondorff (Paul Newman) with a single goal: take ruthless racketeer Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw) for everything he's got. The plan runs like clockwork — a fake off-track betting parlor, planted players, doctored telegrams. The audience gets played right alongside the mark, and the final reveal flips everything you thought you understood.
