The series spun off from The Originals and The Vampire Diaries, centering on the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, a boarding school that teaches witches, vampires, and werewolves to control what they are.

Danielle Rose Russell leads as Hope Mikaelson, Klaus's daughter and a rare tribrid — part witch, part vampire, part werewolf. Alongside her are the Saltzman twins, Lizzie and Josie, and their father Alaric (Matthew Davis), who runs the school and tries to keep its students from destroying each other or the outside world. Each season brings a new supernatural threat and the same underlying question: does bloodline decide destiny?

Produced by Warner Bros. Television and Alloy Entertainment, the show ran for 68 episodes across four seasons before The CW canceled it in 2023.
