Synopsis
Jackie (2016) is a biographical drama directed by Pablo Larraín that you can watch online on iFILM. Natalie Portman plays Jacqueline Kennedy in the days immediately following November 22, 1963 — not a sweeping account of the presidency, but a close study of one woman navigating grief, power, and legacy at the same time.
The film is structured around a newspaper interview Jackie gives a week after Dallas. Her answers are careful, sometimes rehearsed, occasionally contradictory — and Larraín keeps the camera close enough to see the calculation behind the composure. While the nation was still processing the shock, Jackie was already deciding how her husband's funeral would look and what the word Camelot would come to mean. Peter Sarsgaard plays Robert Kennedy, Greta Gerwig appears as a White House aide, and Billy Crudup is the journalist trying to find the seams.
Portman earned an Academy Award nomination for the role. The film was shot with a fractured, intimate style that keeps the historical scale from swallowing the person at the centre. Stream Jackie (2016) online on iFILM.
