There she finds a letter left behind fifty years earlier: an Englishwoman named Claire once fled from her Italian sweetheart Lorenzo without ever saying what she felt. Sophie writes back, and before long Claire herself arrives in Verona to track down a lost love. Amanda Seyfried plays the young journalist, while Vanessa Redgrave is the older woman handed a second chance.
