Synopsis
The Banshees of Inisherin (2022) is Martin McDonagh's tragicomedy you can watch online on iFILM. On a tiny Irish island in 1923, Colm informs his old drinking companion Pádraic that he no longer wants to speak to him. No fight, no reason given.
Pádraic (Colin Farrell) can't accept it and keeps coming back. So Colm (Brendan Gleeson) sets a grotesque condition: for every fresh attempt at conversation, he'll cut off one of his own fingers. The island circles this absurd ultimatum — Pádraic's sharp sister Siobhán (Kerry Condon), stifled by the dead-end quiet; the slow-witted Dominic (Barry Keoghan); the village pub; and one rather unlucky donkey. Across the water, the Civil War rumbles on.
McDonagh reunited Farrell and Gleeson fifteen years after In Bruges. The film drew nine Academy Award nominations, and Condon took home the BAFTA.
