Synopsis
Capote (2005) — watch online on iFILM this acclaimed biographical drama directed by Bennett Miller. Philip Seymour Hoffman won the Academy Award for Best Actor playing Truman Capote, the celebrated New York socialite and writer whose obsession with a Kansas farm murder would cost him everything.
November 1959: four members of the Clutter family are shot dead in the small town of Holcomb. Capote travels to Kansas on a New Yorker assignment and stays for six years. He gets extraordinary access to both killers, and particularly to Perry Smith (Clifton Collins Jr.) — a complicated man Capote finds uncomfortably familiar. The problem: the book needs an ending, and the ending means an execution. Capote manipulates everyone around him to get his story, including his closest friend Nelle Harper Lee (Catherine Keener), who watches and quietly judges.
Screenwriter Dan Futterman built the script from Gerald Clarke's biography. In Cold Blood, published in 1966, invented a genre. The film asks what that invention cost. Stream Capote in full online on iFILM.
