Christy is a newly sober single mom trying to hold things together in Napa Valley. Her own mother Bonnie — played by Allison Janney — got sober years earlier and now shows up uninvited, full of passive-aggressive wisdom about everything Christy is doing wrong. Both women attend AA meetings. Both are works in progress. Around them: the sharp-tongued Jill (Jaime Pressly), steady Marjorie (Mimi Kennedy), and blunt Tammy (Kristen Johnston), each carrying her own wreckage.

Chuck Lorre built the show around real laughs, but didn't sand down the rough edges — addiction, financial strain, and broken relationships stay in the frame. Allison Janney won two Golden Globes for the role of Bonnie. Stream Mom online on iFILM.
