Synopsis

Call the Midwife is a BBC One drama you can watch online on iFILM — 15 seasons and 117 episodes running since January 2012, with new series still in production. Narrated by Vanessa Redgrave, with Helen George, Jenny Agutter and Judy Parfitt heading the cast. Each episode runs about 52 minutes.

The show is set in the cramped back streets of postwar East London, where a community of young midwives and nursing nuns from Nonnatus House deliver babies in tenement flats, handle difficult pregnancies with almost no equipment, and piece together the stories of the families they serve. Some episodes are funny. Some are heartbreaking. Most are both at once. The series draws from the real-life memoirs of Jennifer Worth, who worked the same streets for years.

As each season progresses, the timeline moves forward — from the late 1950s through to the 1980s — tracking how medicine, society and the women themselves change over three decades. A Neal Street Productions project. Stream all seasons of Call the Midwife online on iFILM.
