9 (2009) is Shane Acker's animated science-fiction film you can watch online on iFILM. A small stitched doll with the number 9 on its back wakes up in a scorched world and finds no people anywhere. Humanity lost its war against the machines it built, and now metal predators prowl the ruins.

Number 9 (voiced by Elijah Wood) stumbles onto a handful of other rag dolls hiding from the Beast. Each has its own number and temper: cautious leader 1, tinkerer 2, the silent warrior 7. The newcomer argues that staying hidden is pointless. It is time to fight back and learn why their maker sewed human souls into these tiny bodies. The feature grew out of Acker's Oscar-nominated short, with Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov producing. It runs just 80 minutes, yet the world is detailed down to every rusted rivet.
