Synopsis
Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019) is a family adventure based on the games that you can watch online on iFILM. Director Rob Letterman drops the creatures into a bustling city where they live side by side with humans.
In Ryme City, private eye Harry Goodman goes missing without a trace. His son Tim, played by Justice Smith, shows up to clear out the apartment and meets his dad's old partner: a fuzzy Pikachu who drinks coffee, grumbles, and talks in the voice of Ryan Reynolds. Only Tim can hear him. Together the mismatched duo chase a case that uncovers a much bigger conspiracy. Along the way they cross paths with rookie reporter Lucy (Kathryn Newton), tycoon Howard Clifford played by Bill Nighy, and Ken Watanabe as a city detective.
This was the first live-action Pokémon feature, and the designers gave Pikachu, Charmander and Mewtwo real fur and scales for the first time, sparking debate over every frame.
