Attack the Block

Attack the Block (2011) is a British sci-fi action comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Writer-director Joe Cornish made his feature debut with a near-zero-budget monster movie set on a South London housing estate, and it turned into one of the sharpest genre films of the decade. John Boyega, years before Star Wars, plays Moses — a teenage gang leader who has never backed down from anything.

One November night in Brixton, Moses and his crew mug a young woman named Sam (Jodie Whittaker) in the street. Seconds later, something crashes out of the sky. Moses kills the first alien. That turns out to be the wrong call. The follow-up wave is bigger, blacker, with glowing teeth and no eyes. Now Moses, Sam and the rest of the estate — including a local dealer played by Nick Frost — have to hold the block together.
