Synopsis
Crimes of the Future (2022) is David Cronenberg's body-horror sci-fi, free to watch online on iFILM. In a near future where pain has faded away, human bodies start sprouting brand-new organs no one asked for.
Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen) has turned that condition into performance art. Alongside his partner Caprice (Léa Seydoux), he has his fresh organs cut out live, in front of an audience. A jittery pair of bureaucrats from the National Organ Registry, played by Kristen Stewart and Scott Speedman, trail the duo, while a fringe group wants to weaponize Saul's fame to push evolution one step further.
Cronenberg picks up the flesh-and-machine obsessions he first chased in Videodrome and shoots them cold, slow and deliberately unsettling.
