A torrential desert storm forces eleven strangers to pull over at the same Nevada motel. Stretch limo driver Ed (Cusack), a cop transporting a convicted felon (Liotta), a woman trying to restart her life (Peet), a family on a road trip — none of them planned to be here. One by one, guests start turning up dead. The room keys vanish in sequence. Nobody knows who to trust.

Running alongside that story: a late-night court session where a lawyer fights to overturn a serial killer's death sentence. The two threads are heading for the same place.
