Wish Upon

Wish Upon (2017) is an American supernatural horror you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by John R. Leonetti, the film follows seventeen-year-old Claire, played by Joey King — a shy outcast whose father digs through trash cans for a living, whose classmates make her daily life miserable. Then a lacquered box turns up with an offer: seven wishes, no questions asked.

The wishes work. That is the problem. Every time Claire gets what she wants — popularity, money, the boy she likes — someone close to her dies in a freak accident. The box collects its payment in blood, and once the cycle starts it cannot simply be returned to a shelf. Ryan Phillippe plays her father; Sherilyn Fenn appears in a key supporting role.

What lifts the film above a standard teen slasher is how recognisable Claire's desires are — the craving to be seen, to stop being the weird kid, to matter. Her reluctance to let go of the box feels earned, not stupid, and that makes each death land harder. Watch Wish Upon (2017) in full on iFILM.
