Synopsis
The Muppets (2011) is the beloved comeback musical comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by James Bobin and co-written by Jason Segel, who also stars alongside Amy Adams. US production, 102 minutes.
Gary and his girlfriend Mary are visiting Hollywood when Gary's brother Walter — a lifelong Muppets superfan who happens to be a puppet — discovers that the old Muppet Theater is days away from demolition. An oil tycoon has bought the property and plans to drill underneath it. The only way to save it: raise ten million dollars by putting on a live show. Kermit tracks down the scattered troupe one by one: Miss Piggy in Paris, Fozzie performing in a Reno tribute band, the whole gang rusty and uncertain whether the world still has room for them.
Jason Segel and Amy Adams handle the human side of things warmly, but the film belongs to the Muppets and their mix of slapstick, sincerity and sharp musical numbers. The Academy agreed — the song "Man or Muppet" won the Oscar for Best Original Song. It opened to over 88 million dollars domestically in its first weekend. Stream The Muppets (2011) online on iFILM.
