Brooklyn

Brooklyn (2015) is a romantic drama about emigration you can watch online on iFILM. In early-1950s Ireland, a small town has nothing to offer young Eilis Lacey, so she boards a ship for New York and a job that someone arranged from across the ocean.

Brooklyn means a crowded boarding house, a department-store counter, and homesickness that hollows her out. Slowly the city loosens its grip: night classes in bookkeeping, new friends, and Tony, an Italian-American plumber who is serious about her. Then a letter from home pulls Eilis back to Ireland, where quiet, steady Jim is waiting. Two countries, two men, one decision she can't take back.

Directed by John Crowley from Colm Tóibín's novel, with a screenplay by Nick Hornby, the film earned three Academy Award nominations, including Best Actress for Saoirse Ronan.
